Good afternoon Everyone!!
I am very pleased with the efforts of all my 8th grade students thus far. Eighth grade is challenging in its pacing and expectations. I want to remind each of you that you have a quiz tomorrow (Thursday) and our first exam is on Tuesday, August 28th. Please practice the online options for Unit 2 - 8.EE.1 - Exponent Properties each night until then. We will also have a study guide to utilize beginning Friday. (Just so you know.....students are quite often surprised that my exams are NOT the same questions as the study guide. They are the same type of question.) Be prepared to add notes to your study guides. First and third blocks will be allowed to use their study guides during the exam. Fifth block will NOT be allowed to use study guides. Good luck and happy studying. Please email me if you need assistance; [email protected]

Wow!! What an awesome ending to a fantastic week! We wrapped up our week with an introduction to our vocabulary unit (unit 2). That is due next Friday - definitions only. We discovered the first 2 laws of Exponents in 1st and 3rd blocks. 5th block - way to get serious and find the 3rd Law. 5th block - your completed discovery is due Monday.
I hope everyone has a restful weekend. See you Monday!! Good Afternoon Everyone!!
I would like to welcome you all to Pre-Algebra. I hope you have had as great a start as I have so far. I am truly impressed by all of my wonderful students. I am so honored to be your instructor this year!! We have been learning so much already. We have been getting to know each other, measuring our math memories, and becoming familiar with our class website. We have learned three reasoning routines (very impressive) as well. Don't forget to have your parents sign your syllabus!! Our current unit of study is Properties of Exponents (Unit 2). Remember, this year we will be working in 2 units at the same time - one in the deep math (major work of the grade) and one on the lighter side (supporting content). We will wrap up Lesson 1 (pre-requisites) tomorrow. No homework - except for your syllabus. As for notebooks - remember, you need a 3 ring binder. I can share with Science and Social Studies. You can check our homepage for the full list. See you tomorrow!! |
